The Turkish-English business community is a growing force in the economic landscape of the North East of England. With over 300 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating across sectors such as manufacturing, retail, technology, and services, this vibrant network contributes significantly to local development. Collectively, these businesses employ more than 1,000 individuals, generating jobs, innovation, and inclusive growth.

The community’s economic impact extends further — contributing over £60 million annually to the regional economy through trade, investment, and entrepreneurship. With approximately 2,000 Turkish-English citizens residing in Newcastle, this group represents both a cultural bridge and an economic driver.

At the heart of this progress is MÜSİAD (Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association), which plays a central role in supporting Turkish-British businesses through strategic networking, advocacy, and collaboration. As part of its mission to empower regional entrepreneurship, MÜSİAD provides a platform for business leaders to connect, share knowledge, and explore joint ventures.

On June 14th, MÜSİAD Newcastle hosted a landmark business networking event that brought together local entrepreneurs, community leaders, and distinguished guests — including Chi Onwurah MP, the former Lord Mayor of Newcastle, and other key figures in the public and private sectors. The event showcased the strength of the Turkish-British business network and reinforced MÜSİAD’s commitment to building economic bridges between the UK and Türkiye.
